Self-sampling follow up
BHI doctors perform a one year follow up on patients from Ilobasco in El Salvador, who tested positive during the self-sampling project.

Dr. Maza is invited as a speaker at the UAB, where he shares BHI’s cervical cancer preventable model.
American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology Conference
Drs. Cremer, Maza and Alfaro attend the ASCCP Conference in Las Vegas, and present the results of one of the first studies testing the acceptability of HPV tests as a cervical cancer screening method among transgender men in a LMIC.
BHI welcomes new leadership
Dr. Mauricio Maza becomes the new Executive Director. Dr. Maza has been an integral member of BHI since 2004 and is a globally recognized public health expert and advocate.

World Cancer Day
Our team joins the World Cancer Day initiative “Yo puedo tu puedes”, and is featured in the UICC and World Cancer Day social media accounts. Further on, BHI’s initiative is included in the World Cancer Day Annual report.
Rising Tide Foundation and BHI visit communities and patients to monitor results of CAPE, and meet with local health promoters to discuss the program’s expansion.
